About Us
Our primary objective is to respond to the needs of the wider community of Montagu in ways that will make a difference, however small. We aim to support, uplift, dignify, empower and enhance the lives of people in need through humanitarian and socially orientated development projects. These projects are aimed at poverty relief, skills and knowledge transfer, basic shelter and emergency intervention.

Our Strategy
We engage with our community and collaborate with various organizations to support beneficiaries with dignity. We believe in giving a hand up rather than a handout, focusing on long-term projects that help people find their sense of worth. Our organization prioritizes collaboration and paying it forward, staying non-racial, non-sectarian, and non-political, as stated in our constitution.
BLANKETS
Winters in Montagu can be tough! We received feedback in the autumn that there are people who will really struggle as the winter sets. This discussion prompted us to put a call out for blankets setting a target of 300 blankets. As always we were humbled by the tremendous response from our community. Donations arrived in the form of blankets being dropped off, and cash donations being made. This included a generous donation received from Breede River Winelands Rotary Club allowing us to purchase new blankets.
School shoes
Remember those school shoes we collected in December? We distributed some of them at the start of the school year but had some left in our store. With winter starting we dusted them off and started distributing again. Most of the school shoes were smaller sizes, helping children in the foundation phase of school. This is a really important part of their education and we are extremely pleased that we can make a contribution. We are very happy to report that there is absolute glee on the faces of the individual children who get to put on their first pair of brand new shoes!
Emergency Response
On the night of 26 June 2021 a fire broke out in Mandela Square. By the time it was put out, several shacks were burnt out, and with it, everything the families owned. On Sunday morning 27 June another fire destroyed another home in Ashbury. We jumped to action and collected information on the families involved with detail on the people, children and their particular needs. By Monday morning we were able to distribute blankets, food, clothes and toiletries to each family. With donations streaming in a second and third delivery of donations were possible, assisting the people who lost everything, in slowly putting their lives back together again.
